Prize money for each team in World Cup 2015

1. Australia – $3.95mn (24.7 Crore)
Australia the winners of 2015 edition played excellent cricket throughout the tournament lost only 1 match and were deserving champions.


2. New Zealand – $2.02mn (12.6 Crore)
New Zealand the runners up of this

edition were superb in the tournament winning 8 matches in a row and played some aggressive cricket in the entire tournament but lost to Australia in the finals.


3. India – $870,000 (5.4 Crores)
India the former defending champions lost to Australia in the 2nd semi finals but they were also superb till the semi finals. They beat 7 teams in row which shows the capability of a young team which did not have the experience of playing a big match.


4. South Africa – $780,000 (4.9 Crores)
South Africa lost to New Zealand in the first semi finals. It was a close finish as the home team won the match by 4 wickets. South Africa did not handle pressure well and lost on crucial moments. The chokers tag will remain on them.


5. Pakistan – $480,000 (3 Crore)
The unpredictable Pakistan lost out in the quarter finals against Australia. They lost the first two matches badly but won the next four matches to qualify for the knockout rounds but they played some poor cricket and were knocked out.


6. Sri Lanka – $480,000 (3 Crore)
Sri Lanka too lost out in the quarter finals losing to South Africa. They did not have good World Cup losing to Australia, New Zealand but beating England. Sangakkara  had a great tournament with 4 successive centuries but in the quarter finals they lost to South Africa by 9 wickets.


7. Bangladesh – $457,500 (2.9 Crore)
Bangladesh for the first time reached the knock out stages for the first time. They played some excellent cricket winning against England. Bangladesh lost to India in the quarter finals but has improved a lot and exceeded their expectations.


8. West Indies – $435,000 (2.7 Crore)
West Indies also lost in the quarter finals to New Zealand. The bowling was very weak and their batting depended on only one or two batsmen. In the group stages they lost to Ireland. Against New Zealand their bowling was smashed as 393 runs were scored against them.


9. Ireland – $170,000 (1.1 Crore)
Ireland was the best associate side in the tournament. They played some good cricket beating West Indies, beating UAE. Beating Zimbabwe. Despite knocked out in the group stage they have shown promises playing good cricket in big tournaments.


10. England – $125,000 (78 Lakhs)
England the top test nations was the shocking results of the tournaments. They played some poor cricket losing to Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Their only wins came against Afghanistan and Scotland which are weak teams.


11. Zimbabwe – $80,000 (50 Lakhs)
Zimbabwe played some good cricket in the tournament in batting department but their bowling was a letdown. They won only 1 match against UAE and lost all the 6 matches afterwards. Brendon Taylor, Sean Williams were the bright spots in the tournament.


12. Afghanistan – $80,000 (50 Lakhs)
Afghanistan playing the World Cup for the 1st time were very impressive with their attitude in the field. They played some good cricket in the tournament. They won their first match in World Cup by defeating Scotland by 1 wicket. Overall it was a learning experience for these players.


13. Scotland- $35,000 (22 Lakhs)
Scotland lost all their matches in the group stage but there were some excellent individual performances in some matches. They participated in World Cups before but have not any wins under their belt in World Cups but they failed to win any match in this edition too.



14. UAE- $35,000 (22 Lakhs)
UAE also lost all their matches in group stages but they showed glimpses of good performances in the tournament. Shaiman Anwar was the shining star with the bat. They are not professional cricketers but came for getting experience.
